When I started this, I was looking (I thought) far in the the future. It seems, however, that I was planning more near-term than I thought.
One of the things that I did when setting up a Patreon was create goals that I thought would offer value back to people, and instead of focusing on dollar amounts (because, frankly, my goal isn’t really to earn money, but to provide resources with community feedback), I decided to focus on number of subscribers.
So, I arbitrarily picked 15 patrons as my first content goal.
And I’m well over halfway there.
That alone has been somewhat astounding to me, and it has led me to exactly what I hoped it would: more advanced planning and deeper processes that might just result in higher quality content.
A few months ago, I released an example “Solitary Devotional” on the 3CG YouTube page. It was neat, but it was designed as an example more than as a “follow along” sort of thing. I really wanted to create a ritual that a solitary Druid could do, possibly with the video up, along with me.
Watch that video here: MJD’s Full Solitary Home Shrine Rite.
Creating the flow process for this, and scripting it out, has actually started to happen at this point. This is a welcome change from my usual process, where I kind of go with the flow and do things “as they come to me” and (with videos) in one take.
So, at this point I’m starting to seriously plan that video that will be available to patrons first. If you’d like to speed me toward the logical end, where this video gets released, you can do so by becoming a patron at any level (even $1/month), and you’ll count toward the goal of 15 patrons that will lead to the release of this video.
Because, seriously, this process works best when it works for all of us.
