Returning to Public Ritual: A Hybrid Experiment

Last week’s Druids In Cars, Going to Festivals episode was about “Hybrid Experimentation: A Pandemic Ritual Recovery,” and Rev. Avende and I recorded it on our way out to our Cutios Druid Moon rite, which was the first attempt we’ve had at a ritual in person in over a year.

We talked about our expectations and our hopes, and then we recorded on our way home about what did and didn’t work. We also held a debrief liturgy meeting to fine-tune the process for the future.

After our debrief, I put together a small document (linked at the top of this post and with a downloadable version at the bottom as well) of lessons learned and what worked and what didn’t.

I know a lot of us are trying to get back to in-person ritual. We’re watching the process unfold and trying to figure out how to do what we need to do. Hopefully, we’ll figure out how to open the ways for one another, and work ritual together again.

I passed this information along to the Council of Senior Druids in ADF today, as well, so that everyone could benefit a bit from our experience.
