Why I don’t do religious exemptions from vaccines as a Druid Priest

Recently, we had a request come in asking about a religious exemption to the COVID-19 vaccine. Because such an exemption would go against both the lore and our virtues, we wrote back a polite note that, no, we will not provide documentation for a religious exemption from vaccines, because there is no legitimate documentation for such a closely held religious belief among Druids.

In the process of creating the response, I realized others might also benefit from the arguments, in the event that they were also approached. So, I’ve created an article (that I’m sending in to Oak Leaves) detailing both the virtues and the lore, as I see them.

I’m attaching it here, so you can read it (or you can read it online, if you prefer).

I’ve already disseminated the information to my fellow Priests, in case they receive a similar request, and need a template to work from.

This article has also appeared in Issue 95 of ADF’s quarterly journal, Oak Leaves. Find information on that publication here: https://www.adf.org/publications/periodicals/oak-leaves/index.html
