An Eponalia Blessing – Dec. 18, 2021

Today, I took my kids to the store and we bought offerings for Epona, the Gaulish horse goddess who was imported into Rome and given an official feast day of Dec. 18. Roses, apples, radishes, and carrots (“Horses love carrots, Dad. And I love radishes!” -my daughter.)

I cannot speak of Epona without remembering my friend, Carmen, who passed several years ago now. It is a bright memory that I have of her, always shining with that horse-goddess energy. I did not speak directly of her in the prayer, but she was there, in my mind, the entire time.

I hope that this day finds you well, and that you are blessed by the goddess as she passes this day.
