Silent Film Projects: First Storyboards

Storyboard of three people approaching and walking between two pillars on a forested path

I was going to post this on Monday, but that didn’t work out, so it comes out today. It turns out I had to do a bit of editing on the original storyboards to make them worth posting.

Anyway, this is a small sampling of the storyboards for the silent film. (Each of the images is just a storyboard, described to some extend under it, so not all images will have captions, as I just describe what’s in them anyway.)

As I have it conceived now, the ritual will involve three priests, nominally titled as the priests of land, sea, and sky. I’m intending to have them approach the grove as shown in the storyboard above, down a path and between two small standing stones.

Here, the Priest of the Sky purifies the space with smoke and fire. I’ll probably have to use a large sage smudge stick, because I need a lot of smoke coming off the thing (so it’s visible on camera).

One of the things I really want to do is to have outdwellers dancing around a cup of offering. I want to zoom in on the offering cup (I’m looking for a quality offering cup now), and then have greenscreened extras (Grove members) dancing around the cup and partying. I think that’ll be a load of fun.

In the Gatekeeper offering, we’ll pour oil out onto the fire and let it swell with the offering. I think it’s going to look great on video. At least, I hope so.

Thus far, I’ve only storyboarded up through the Gatekeeper offering, but hopefully, this gives some idea where I’m going. On Tuesday, I released a video with all those storyboards lined up, along with their title cards, for $20 patrons. It came out kinda fun.

There’s more to come in the future, too 🙂
