A Dream within a Dream<\/i><\/h3>\n

I had a dream the other night.<\/p>\n

Or I think it was a dream.<\/p>\n

I awoke in the middle of the night. The door to my room was open, and I could see out of it. The hallway was lit with yellow light, but between myself and the source of that light was a figure.<\/p>\n

No, it was a mass of tentacles and a pair of red eyes.<\/p>\n

No light fell upon the creature. It stood, staring at me. The tentacles moved in the still air. Flashes of the creatures body appeared and disappeared, and I caught a glimpse of the armour it wore. They were five-pointed stars overlaid in a mesh, some looking like deformed starfish.<\/p>\n

Beyond my door stood Cthulhu, his gaze burning into me. The fear of the Elder Gods washed over me, and I sat, shivering and mesmerized by the eyes that held me.<\/p>\n

I broke the fear with a thought, and called out to Esus.<\/p>\n

From beside my bed I grabbed my axe, and I hurled it at the Priest of the Elder Gods.<\/p>\n

It struck, and I blacked out.<\/p>\n

I awoke the next morning, and remembered the dream. I fully convinced myself that it was a dream.<\/p>\n

Upon stepping into the hall, though, I found two things.<\/p>\n

First, my axe lying on the floor.<\/p>\n

Second, under a chair nearby, a broken starfish of some dull yellow metal I couldn’t place, broken as if struck by something.<\/p>\n
