We’ve already released this video on both Facebook and YouTube, so this post goes full public, but Rev. Avende<\/a> and I recorded a simple, 1-camera\/1-take devotional rite for folks to see how a “minimal” devotional might look.<\/p>\n

The rite was set up with the fireplace, plus a nice well, nine tealights, and two cups with water in them. It’s the sort of thing you could do with stuff in your kitchen (well, not everyone has 9 tealights, but I have plenty to spare), and it was really designed to show what a “formal” devotional might look like if it were done by one or two people.<\/p>\n

Doing devotions isn’t difficult, but it is difficult. It’s one of those things that’s weird and hard, even though it should be easy and straightforward.<\/p>\n

My hope in this is that folk will see a way to do their own devotions with this sort of work, and that it will help them to deepen their own piety, whether they do it just like we did, or make their own way on it.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Also, it’s a lot of fun to take pictures of your space when it looks pretty.<\/p>\n
